The best way to acquire the professional skills required by a conference interpreter is to take a university postgraduate course. There are a number of different courses available in the UK that cover areas such as:
- foreign language and English skills
- consecutive interpreting, including note-taking
- liaison interpreting
- simultaneous interpreting
- linguistic theory
